Celebrations will be taking place across the whole of the UK to mark the handover of the Olympic Games from Beijing to London on 24th August and the close of the Paralympic Games on 17th September. It will include many small and large-scale cultural and sporting events and activities that will bring together all sectors of the community to share in these momentous occasions!
We want to create opportunities to bring residents in Breckland together to share and enjoy this great celebration and to enable more people in Breckland to have access to sports and culture. We want to make sure that there is something for everyone to engage and enjoy from a village performance through to a parish relay! We hope that over the next four years and beyond, there will be a constant level of exciting cultural and sporting activity within our communities and that this year will start the momentum and set the pace!
For the period between the 24th August and 17th September, Breckland Council will be organising, supporting and promoting a whole range of sporting and cultural activity across the district, including opportunities to participate in singing, music making, theatre, dancing, creative writing, bowling, football, running, golfing, boxing, cycling, riding, … and much more!
